Germany market trends
German imports of Italian coffee reached EUR 350.5 million during the first seven months of 2026, a 28.4% increase over the same period in 2025. This surge in coffee demand follows growth in other Italian food sectors.

Dr. Ferdinando Fiore, Director of ITA Berlin, reports that the German Foodservice market faces a "challenging period" because significant price increases cause many consumers to favor more affordable options instead of premium goods. Demand for sustainable, high-quality products remains a distinguishing feature despite these economic pressures. Germany also ranks as the second largest international visitor market for SIGEP World, as these visitors accounted for 6.6% of the total, placing it just behind Spain. The country also remains Italy’s leading trading partner in the agri-food sector and a main importer of Italian Foodservice machinery. This strategic importance allows SIGEP to connect German buyers with Made in Italy products to develop new business relationships.
Istanbul and 2027 plans
The SIGEP Meets the World roadshow recently visited Istanbul and Munich on 26 and 28 October to connect Italian companies with industry professionals. The upcoming events aim to strengthen relationships with local industry professionals and develop new business opportunities. In Turkey, Italian coffee imports reached USD 18.4 million and gelato imports reached USD 1.6 million, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. Trade with Turkiye is dynamic in semi-finished products, pastry and bakery mixes, and technologies, alongside finished products and ingredients. Marco Pintus, Director of ITA Istanbul, says the Turkish restaurant scene shows "remarkable dynamism" with new formats constantly emerging. Local operators show interest in Italian technology to maintain high standards and efficiency.
The 48th edition of SIGEP World will take place at the Rimini Expo Centre from 23 to 27 January 2027. This event expects more than 1,000 international buyers and includes Vietnam as the Guest Country. The Guest Country, Vietnam, will include a government delegation and qualified buyers. As the world’s second-largest coffee producer and the leader in Robusta exports, Vietnam will provide opportunities for companies across the supply chain. Through international delegations, an International Pavilion, and business matchmaking, the 2027 edition aims to increase participation from retail chains, travel catering businesses, and luxury hotels. Ilaria Cicero, Global Exhibition Director of IEG Group’s Food & Beverage Division, says the roadshow brings Italian expertise to qualified counterparts to help companies explore new business prospects.
