Cookies
- thenovacafe_com_voter – set only when you vote in a reader poll. It holds a random identifier so the site can tell that this browser has already voted and show you the results. Duration: 365 days. First-party, HttpOnly, not used for anything else and not shared.
- WordPress sign-in cookies (wordpress_*, wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-*) – set only for editors who log in to the administration area. Readers never receive them.
Other browser storage
- sessionStorage: thenovacafe-com-viewed-{article ID} – notes that you have opened an article during this browser session, so the article view counter does not count you twice. Deleted automatically when you close the tab.
What poll limits can and cannot do
The poll cookie allows one vote per browser. If you delete cookies, use a private window or another device, you can vote again (within a per-network limit). Our polls are therefore reader polls, not scientific surveys.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them; you can still read everything and use the brew ratio calculator. Without the poll cookie, the site cannot remember that you already voted.
