The design of an automotive icon
The 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 has a cult following among car enthusiasts. Porsche produced only 500 of these cars, which became a coveted road-legal sports car due to its rigorous lightweight construction, striking design and strong performance. It holds the distinction of being the first 911 to bear the "Carrera" name. This name is a reference to the successes Porsche had in the Carrera Panamericana road race, while the "RS" designation stood for the car’s focus on racing and rallying. To celebrate this icon, Porsche and La Marzocco released a new collection on October 30. The collection includes three colorways for the Linea Micra and Pico grinder: Grand Prix White – Green, Tangerine – Black, and a German-exclusive Grand Prix White – Blue. The Grand Prix White – Green and Tangerine – Black versions have 911 units each, but the Grand Prix White – Blue variant is only available in Germany with a limit of 150 units. I find the German-only restriction for the blue variant to be a frustrating barrier for global collectors. The Linea Micra machine has "Carrera RS" lettering along its side and includes a cup rail that takes inspiration from the characteristic "ducktail" rear spoiler of the 1972 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, which enthusiasts still covet today.
Technical specifications and design details
The design of the espresso machine incorporates many specific details from the 911 Carrera RS 2.7. The black handles have "RS" and "2.7" laser-engraved on them, and the analogue manometers use red and green indicators in the Porsche style. A magnetic badge with an "RS 2.7" graphic sits on the machine, and a limited-edition plaque on the side says "One of 911". Chris Salierno, the Chief Marketing Officer at La Marzocco, said the design of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 inspired the reinterpretation of the Linea Micra as an expression of two passions and a shared commitment to quality and precision. The Linea Micra is a compact portafilter machine. It provides professional quality for home coffee preparation. It includes a 3-in-1 portafilter that allows a user to switch between single spout, double spout, and bottomless spout setups. The brew lever combines the mechanics of a paddle with the reliability of an electric switch. The machine also has an insulated steam wand, an easy-to-access 2-liter water tank, and LED barista lights. Users control the temperature and settings through the La Marzocco Home app. The Pico coffee grinder adopts the design of the espresso machine. It is equipped with an adjustable magnetic portafilter fork and an auto-close bean hopper, which completes the set both functionally and visually.
| Product | Price (EUR) | Price (USD) |

Lifestyle products and availability
The collection includes lifestyle products such as handcrafted espresso and cappuccino cups, hoodies, T-shirts, caps, and socks. These items use the Grand Prix White – Green and Tangerine – Black color combinations. Collectors can also purchase 1:18 scale model cars of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 that come with a miniature coffee machine. Deniz Keskin, the Director Brand Management and Partnerships at Porsche AG, said the new collection continues the shared story between the two brands. The collection premiered on October 29 at the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen. La Marzocco was founded in Florence in 1927. In 1939, the company developed and patented the first espresso machine with a horizontal boiler. This machine is now the industry standard. Since 1927, La Marzocco has combined a passion for tradition and precise craftsmanship in the pursuit of reliability and design. Every machine that leaves the factory is handcrafted to order for the customer. The products are available at the Porsche webstore and select Porsche Centers and Design Stores around the world. I think the €5,790 price for the Linea Micra is an extravagant amount for this equipment.
